I suspect most likely that the elevated lactate is a type II lactic acidosis given the known seizure form activity at there is been no infection elucidated on initial evaluation. We will reevaluate with repeat lactate after administration of IV fluids and if not downtrending or an infection is elucidated on workup, will initiate prompt IV antibiotics and pursue septic treatment.
