The pediatric weight boost dose calculator is an interactive widget which provides a summary of instructions on amount in volume of medication of a given concentration to be taken at which frequency and the appropriate amount dispensed based upon the weight of the patient and the target dosage (mg/kg).   The summary instruction sentence incorporates all of those pertinent information of the prescription and can be copied and pasted or with eventual integration of the EMR directly placed into the prescription. The goal is again to decrease the number of preventable medical errors in a known high risk area (i.e. pediatric dosing) and reduce the amount of cognitive burden of dose calculations for an emergency physician.
