Ectopic (rule out)

Given patient has not yet had US to confirm IUP in this pregnancy, will evaluate for potential ectopic pregnancy. Patient is hemodynamically stable at this time without any significant distress.
Therefore plan:
obstetric ultrasound ,
serum hCG,
basic labs,
UA/UCx (to evaluate for occult UTI or other potential other causes provoking vaginal spotting in context of pregnancy)
Dispo:
Stable. Awaiting available bed.
Of note, this is a “Brief Medical Screening” note (abbreviated HPI, screening plan). My interaction with the patient in this setting is not intended as a full ED evaluation sufficient to entertain all pathological etiologies for the patient complaint and nor necessarily provide sufficient treatment for patient’s condition. Subsequent, full evaluation, discussion with patient, and treatment plan by ED provider to promptly follow.
